Transfer case service for BMW xDrive cars, in one box: a liter of TF 0870 spec transfer case oil and a new screw plug.
What is in the kit?
- 1 x S-Tec ATC transmission fluid, TF 0870, 1 L, full synthetic. Made to BMW TF 0870, the spec BMW later renamed DTF 1 (BMW 83 22 0 397 244, now 83 22 2 409 710 and 83 22 5 A4F 016). Approved by Magna Powertrain, who builds the transfer case.
- 1 x screw plug with O-ring, M22, BMW 33 11 7 525 064, for the fill plug. Tightened to 60 Nm.
S-Tec lists this oil for BMW TF 0870. It is not a BMW-branded oil.
Which BMWs does it fit?
- BMW xDrive cars with a transfer case (Active Torque Control): 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 Series xDrive, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, and the 2010 to 2015 X1 xDrive.
Not for the X1 from 2016, the X2, the 2 Series Gran Coupe or the 2 Series Active and Gran Tourer. Those are front-drive based and take a different oil. Send us your 17-digit VIN before you order and we will confirm.

- How much does it take? The G-series transfer case takes 0.7 L. Fill to the bottom edge of the fill hole.
- Anything else? On G-series cars, BMW finishes the job with an oil change service function in the diagnosis system.
