IID

IA Internal Database / Buyer Check

Thinking about buying a used BMW? Run it through IID before you hand over the money. We pull the car's factory build record, check it against what the seller claims, and a person who has worked the BMW parts counter emails you the report.

Free for the first two days. Account required. 2015 and newer BMWs only for now.

What the report covers

  • The factory option codes on record for that VIN, translated into plain English.
  • What each package really includes, so "Driving Assistance" is not mistaken for radar cruise.
  • A 10-second check for the big options, so you can confirm them on the car yourself.
  • Open safety recalls from the NHTSA lookup.
  • The known weak spots for that engine at that mileage, and what usually goes next.
Every option is marked one of three ways: on the factory record, check on the car, or unknown. If two sources disagree, we tell you. We would rather say unknown than promise comfort access the car doesn't have.

This is a paper check, not a hands-on inspection. Before you buy, have a BMW shop put the car on a lift.
