Bulletin text

N53 · 2,996 cc (30) and 2,497 cc (25) versions · normally aspirated 6-cylinder with direct injection · 2006-2013 · European and Russian catalog cars only

The N53 is a BMW 6-cylinder petrol engine built on the N52 design, with direct fuel injection and no turbocharger. BMW's technical information says it was developed for the European market.

BMW's parts data lists 79 N53 vehicle types, 78 in its European catalog and 1 in its Russian catalog, and none in its US catalog. Not sold in US-market BMWs, per BMW's own vehicle lists (data to December 2019). Wikipedia says the same.

That makes this a short guide. If you are matching an N53 part, use the engine code on the engine block and the car's VIN, and ask for help before ordering.
