• Additive: Liqui Moly Hydraulic Lifter Additive 300 ml (20004). Per Liqui Moly, it reduces hydraulic lifter noise and cleans oil passages; one full can (300 ml) is used with 3 to 6 liters (3.2 to 6.4 U.S. quarts) of motor oil, it mixes on its own and can be added at any time (shake well first), and for best results Liqui Moly says to use it with every oil change. It is a Liqui Moly product, not a BMW part, and using it is your call.

BMW of North America's oil chart SI B11 01 15 (February 2017 revision) lists for model year 2011 and older, 5W-30 LL01 or 0W-30 LL01FE for 'All BMW Gasoline Engines', noting 'The 0W-30 LL01FE engine oil is fully compatible with the older engines and the 5W-30 LL01 engine oil'. Liqui Moly's own guide lists a different Liqui Moly oil for some of these cars; we follow BMW of North America's chart.

Liqui Moly's US oil guide lists '5 liter (Service fill)' and '5 liter'. This kit has 5 L. Fill to your engine's capacity, check the level the way your owner's manual says, and keep any extra for top-ups.
